Welcome to
– – – – – On Historic Routes – – – – –
This website is dedicated to historic routes and how we can explore them today.
For thousands of years people are exploring, traveling, conquering and trading all around the world.
They used routes along roads, rivers, sea lanes or mountain passes that evolved and changed throughout history.
Roman roads, strategic canals, pioneering railroads or pilgrimage trails are examples of current or maybe forgotten routes, where traces of the past remain and can be discovered.
Explore historic routes yourself!
History is not only a thing of the past.
I want to encourage people to see places through a historical lens and thus get a new perspective on the world around us.
To help you to get started I have written the “Explore it yourself guide”, which you can download if you subscribe to my email newsletter.
